This review is for Misty's 1950's Diner, Prahran VIC

The food at Mistys comes in massive portions, and I adore the 1950s decor, but the price is a bit much I think. I had the jalapeño poppers (which could have been a full meal in itself there were so many!) and a burger. The bread with the burger was not the best, too sweet and spongy, I would have preferred a more home made taste, and our carrot sticks with our "dips n sticks" were obviously cut about three days before and refrigerated, but we did have a good time and they have a huge range of American sweets too!

Cold rock ice cream is good quality but stupidly expensive, $8 for a tiny tub with some sweets thrown on top?! I waited ages for service and when I finally got it the girl proceeded to sniff her snotty nose about 15 times while handling my foodstuff. I thought it was common knowledge that if you work in food service you do not go to work with a communicable disease?! Was really disappointed in the whole experience and won't be returning.

This review is for Souvlaki Hut, Kingston TAS

I had a souvlaki here last week and it was absolutely horrendous. The chicken was all brown and I barely finished a bite before I couldn't eat any more. It tasted nothing like a souvlaki and the service was terrible, no smiling, barely and acknowledgement and they forgot all our condiments. And the price is absolutely ridiculous.

Not great, I have to say. I have heard great reviews from some people but my two experiences have been awful (the second one ending with us walking out after waiting nearly two hours for our meals) my first experience there was similarly disappointing, with my pad Thai tasting like cat urine (no I have never tasted cat urine but it was distinctly ammonia scented) the curry puffs are good but I don't think I'll ever go back there.

Some of the best Thai food in Tasmania, and trust me, I've tried them all! I like the diner atmosphere though I know some others won't, but to me it was quite similar to actual Thai street dining, even though we're in freezing Hobart rather than sunny kho Samui! Staff are very sweet and the prices are ridiculously good.

This review is for Swansea Beach Chalets, Swansea TAS

5 stars across the board for the Swansea beach chalets! My husband and I stayed here for our third anniversary, and it was just gorgeous. So clean and well equipped, and the staff were fantastic. They're just a short stroll from the beach, and the views are outstanding. Wifi was a bit patchy but we didn't really use it anyway.

This review is for Holy Guacamole!, Launceston TAS

The food here is good but the portions are a little bit small. They work on a set menu, so you choose an entree and main (there is a larger menu with dessert too but the price was getting a bit out of hand) and there are a good number of choices but we were still a bit hungry afterwards. I ADORED the decor, and our wait staff were excellent, i would definitely come here again but probably just for the cocktails rather than the food!

This review is for Commercial Hotel, Launceston TAS

We had a great stay here, was very pleased with the room, small but well equipped and clean. Nice, quiet location close to everything, and a very reasonable price. The only thing was the lingering smell of cigarette smoke from the previous guests (non smoking rooms only but they'd obviously ignored it!) but that was not the hotels fault.

Service was just ok, the room was cheap and clean but a but dark and we couldn't have the curtains open because we faced straight onto the car park! Is good for a family holiday if you're planning to be out most of the day, but I wouldn't book for a romantic getaway.

My husband and I stayed here a few months ago and were just blown away by the quality and value! We have stayed at quite a few hotels around the Launceston area, and this was by far our favorite. We had a massive room with a well stocked mini bar and huge veranda for just $90 per night, and the service was very personal and friendly. The gentleman (i think the owner) helped me park my car then personally escorted me to our room. Great location, close to bars, shopping, cinema and restaurants, would definitely stay here again.
