This is our favorite Turkish restaurant in Canberra. The menu is traditional in parts and really different in others. They do fantastic squid and are one of the few restaurants stocking my favorite pomegranate juice. The service is always friendly and when waiting for take-away, the staff often have a chat with you. Can't go past the baklava of course!
Whilst it's more convenient and the packaging is neater at supermarkets, High Country Meats is terrific value for those with families. It's one of the walk-in chill-room type butcher stores, so wear a jacket! We always end up with a trolley because the side of lamb is too good a bargain to pass up. They 'reduce' the price of meat for quick sale often, which is when cuts like crumbed lamb cutlets become affordable for a family meal.
If you like the traditional takeaway hamburger, chips and pizza, this is the place. You can still feed the family on $20 and keep everyone happy. They still wrap the chips in paper and will cook them extra-crunchy just the way we like them! Te hamburger with the lot comes in at under $7 and is enough to feed two kids as well as showing them what a REAL hamburger experience is!
we needed to have a watertank lifted into our rear yard. We contacted bob barnes who came around, measured the site distance, advised us of the size crane we needed and the price. The tank was lifted in with no problems and no damage.
Approximate cost: $499
after we had some work carried out in our front yard we needed to have a retaining wall installed. We had seen Todd working up the road and his sign was out the front, we called him and he gave us an acceptable quote. Todd and his crew had the work completed and the site cleaned in just 2 days.
We wanted to have our front lawn dug up, we called perter from abetta bobcat to make an appointment. He turned up on time, we chatted over what needed doing, he made some suggestions and the work was completed in just one day. He also made sure he cleaned up afterwards.
Approximate cost: $900
We needed a skip when we were cleaning out our garage. Rob from betta bins advised us of what size we needed, the cost upfront and how long we could have the skip for.
Approximate cost: $210
My hot water system broke on a friday afternoon. After ringing a number of plumbers who were either to busy or not interested i got onto Mick from dial-a-plumber. He came out that evening tested the old water system and told us it needed changing. It was too late in the afternoon to get a new one, so he came back early saturday morning and did the job.
Chalk Education prides their business on being a locally owned and run teaching supplies store that actually caters to the needs of educators. Since Chalk arrived on the local scene I haven't needed to hunt down products on the internet. I love that Kylie and Trudy will bring a display out to our school or workshop so we can interact with products before we decide which ones to get. I love, love LOVE the Folkmanis puppets!
My family and I travel all the way into Civic to see Dr Yang for dentistry. After finding The Smile Lounge in the Yellow Pages initially (in an emergency which resulted in an extraction) we've kept going back because of the service (yes, with a smile!) Our daughter has a fear of people looking in her mouth and finds the distractions provided in the Smile Lounge really helpful (TV on the ceiling!) There is also a much appreciated coffee machine in the waiting area.
