I go to the telegraph for Friday night drinks fairly often, and while they do have good live music and plenty of seating the food is not really that great. Last time I went was for a hens party and we were supposed to get a meal and one free drink, but by the time we lined up to order they said the kitchen was closed! We did manage to get our meals but it was a bit stressful for the party organisers, and the meals were just plain chicken schnitzel and a tiny handful of chips. The bouncers there are often rude, too.

Approximate cost: $10

In all honesty, The Tele is more of a nightspot than a venue to head to for a meal. A group of us stopped in for an early drink and bar snack before heading to a charity event on Saturday night.

We arrived just prior to six and the full menu was not yet available, however, we could choose from Pizza, Wedges, or the $5 Special menu which consists of a few options including a Parmy or a Steak.

Given we were in early, I thought the food was a bit sluggish in coming out, however, watching the number of other meals coming out ahead of ours, it would seem the kitchen was busier than we first thought.

The servings were pretty generous, but the ambiance was not really conducive to a lot of conversation with a reasonable crowd in combined with loud music (and if I never hear Maroon 5's "Payphone" again it'll be soon).

I'd be happy enough to go back to the Tele with a few mates as somewhere to have a feed and kickstart a night on the town, but it isn't somewhere I'd take my parents for a pub meal.
