This was a great place for the whole family, we all had lots of fun. Price was quite reasonable, maybe a bit pricey for some but it is still reasonable for most. It was very interactive and I will definitely go there again.
Approximate cost: $16
This with the zoo and museum are my go to places with the kids (we have the yearly passes for these places). My daughter (6) and son (3) love it here even though they come here at least once every couple of months. What I like about science works is you have fun inside but then also enjoy the two playgrounds outside. Parking use to be free, it's now paid (main car park) which is a bit if a turn off, but you can find free parking within 100m of the place
I hadn't been here since I was in school so was great to visit with the kids.
Bit pricy to get in, we paid for general admission $16 per adult, kids free & entry into the "Rescue" exhibit 2 $4.50 each so total cost was $73 for 4 adults + 2 kids aged 8 & 3.
Kids had a ball with all the interactive displays & loved the rescue exhibit where they could fly a helicopter, put out fires & dress up in rescue gear.
Lunch at the café was nice with variety of food, sandwiches pies, kids packs, coffee etc... prices were as expected at this type of café.
Good seating area outside for kids to run around & a great playground.
The pumping station was also interesting to check out - gorgeous old buildings.
At the end of the day the kids had a great time so that makes us happy. We will visit again in a few years time :)
Approximate cost: $16 Adult
thank you for an informative review, its good to read reviews where prices are mentioned and the ages of your kids .. as that helps me decide if this place is suitable for my own child.
My wife and I went there today 1/3/2014 she has never been there. I have been there once before and my memry it was far better then. Today it was very disappointing to say the least. Some interavtive displays were broken, none of the outside steam engines working. It is a blight on the Victorian Govt where they could have shone on history and inventions. Sorry, I would never again to go there nor would I recommend.
Approximate cost: $10 entry each
I wish there were more stars I could give Scienceworks. What a great fun day out for the whole family! Scienceworks is a huge place to learn and play, and no matter how long you stay you won't get to see and do as much as you wanted to! There's also a great outdoor area with playground and picnic table, and gift shop with loads of goodies, and a cafe. The new carnival exhibit is pure GENIUS! We've been going for the last 5 years or so and it's better than ever. If you haven't been to Scienceworks yet, I have one word for you.... GO! It's an awesome place for all ages!
i haven't seen this carnival yet, am tempted to go and visit now!
This is a great value science museum at only $10/adult and kids are free. I love how it's so hands on. Perfect for kids because they love to touch things and here they're encouraged to do so. This weekend we went to see the Solar car and boat challenges. Amazing! The kids competing were so talented.
i didn't know they have boat challenges, that must be fun!
Really great place to spend the day. Lots of fun and interesting stuff, Planetarium is a great experience as well, and your kids will be busy running from one thing to the other!
Approximate cost: $10
Yes, I like taking the kids to Scienceworks too. They always love going and discovering something new and different.
Regards
Sandra
Great place for interactive education... Different things to discover each school holidays. Great for all ages, free entry for concession card holders to the science works museum.. Also have a planetarium for those into astrology..
Approximate cost: $0 - $6
Scienceworks is fun for all the family. There's the fitness section where you can test your skills and talent against a range of activities. There's also upstairs a little mini engineering section that's loads of fun for younger kids. Of interest to adults will be the tech displays, showing all kinds of gadgets from the last century, which is guaranteed to take you back down memory lane. They also have little exhibitions there all the time. The canteen and gift shop are pretty expensive though.
yeah i remember when i went food there was pretty expensive xx
Plenty of entertainment to warrant multiple trips each year. We went to " Little Kids Day" today , my daughter could stay there for hours, so much to keep little people busy!
Approximate cost: $10
