Dr Tania Nixon is very rude, forceful and belittling.

Dr Tania is very arrogant and impatient toward her dental staff. During my consult she acted as if I wasn’t in the room the entire time, and 20 minutes into my consultation started devaluing me without any introduction.

I didn’t pay for this appointment.

Overall I found Gentle dental to lack care or compassion. Dr Tania Nixon was belittling and rude. Dr Tania Nixon made it feel like any concerns I may have as a patient was just a drag. Prior to my consult I had forward emailed 2 week old X-rays of both sides of my mouth, the front teeth and my existing wisdom teeth from a seperate clinic and up to date. Dr Tania Nixon would not even look in my mouth without my consent to do more x rays as she stated my X-rays were irrelevant. She said how was was she to know I haven’t had work done between the X-rays and now. This come at a charge of $220.
The cost of the treatment plan was extremely costly at Gentle Dental.

I ended up going to another dentist and being over the moon with their care and service and i had the work done with my original 2 week old X-rays and cost similar to the unnecessary duplicate X-rays and the consult fee from Gentle Dental.

This is the first review I have felt the need to write as I don’t want anyone to have the same disappointing experience.

everyone at gentle dental was extremly welcoming when i first came to see dr.nixon , she talked me through my procedure and made me feel comfortable. the receptionists were also lovely along with the nurse

The reception staff are excellent and lovely girls. My Dentist, Tania, is very professional, fast and understanding as I freak out at the thought of having dental care done. Sleep dentistry is the best thing ever!

Extremely professional. Talked and helped me through my personal treatment going from the extraction procedure through to my dentures being put in. I could not fault the team at Gentle Dental.

I spent well over $3000 on treatments at this dentist. I was never told the estimated total cost at the start. I was also not told that any damages would not be covered. This dentist should be more forthcoming with the fees they charge. Thanks heaps.

This practice changed hands maybe a year or so ago, maybe longer. We liked the old practice but we found the attitude of the new dentists a bit condescending, as if we were privileged to be able to get them to work on us. My husband had a heap of work done here under general anaesthetic and time will tell if its been done properly. He had to go back recently to get another tooth looked at. The only reason we went back is that we already had paid for xrays etc and they had seen him recently so knew his situation. The initial reason for using Gentle Dental is that he has great sensitivity with his teeth and the original crew there were great. But now, when you are in pain in the dental chair and the dentist says 'well you'll have to grin and bear it', I guess you know that gentle dental is out the window.
We will never go back.

Recently my brother had all his teeth removed and had dentures fitted. He suffers from anxiety and doesn't do well in public, but the dentists at Gentle Dentle really made him feel safe and relaxed and free from judgement. They did amazing work on him and did not settle for almost right, they worked hard to make his new dentures absolutely perfect. We can not possibly thank them enough for going above and beyond our expectations.

The receptionists on the other hand, while friendly and nice, didn't have any idea what they were doing. If it weren't for another family member knowing about private health then my brother would have missed out on claiming back thousands of dollars, all because the receptionists kept putting in the wrong codes for things. It was really disappointing that we had to keep double checking things when you would think that private health insurance claims would be a big part of their job that they should know what codes are, or at least double check if unsure.

I went in for iv sedation as I am an anxious patient and need lots of reassurance when I visit the dentist. The reception were very helpful and understanding to my needs and after seeing the hygienist I was referred to Dr Tania Nixon. She explained everything to me prior to the appointment date and made me feel relaxed. After having the treatment under iv sedation I would recommend this to anyone who is nervous or scared about the dentist. The cost was a little more especially because of the iv sedation but it was worth every penny. My mouth has never felt better and now I can smile. A big thank you to Tania and to all the nurses and reception who looked after me on my big day.

I went to Gentle Dental after years of neglecting my teeth - I needed a fair few fillings, and opted to have them done under deep sedation. The process itself was fine - I don't remember anything about it, and I recovered fine, but the fillings have not lasted very well - they did not ask me to come back to correct my bite (by filing down the fillings), and pieces have snapped off here and there, not to mention some sharp pieces cut my mouth and tongue in the days/weeks following. I found the receptionists very rude, and I was frequently informed me that my appointment time had changed without them consulting me to check if the new time suited me. Once they also called me to inform me I had missed my appointment, when in fact I was sitting in the waiting room, and had checked in half an hour earlier. This practice seems to be concerned with only making money, and I will not be returning.
