This is really a lovely little place and they do their job so well. They are further along Nelson Place (around the "bend") than the others but it's very much worth the walk to go around there for the superb gelati in so many different flavours and types it just makes your mouth water to think of it. Pistacchio is still my favourite but I can easily be persuaded to go for some others as well.

They also have cakes and coffee, fruit juices and other snacks. But of course the highlight is the ice-cream and the reason this place is a little special is that they provide an echo of the experience of buying ice cream in Italy. The flavours are named and you can have a go saying them if you like.

That's why this place is where the school groups come from Williamstown Primary School where they learn Italian, and each child has to practise speaking by ordering what they want in the language. So fun to hear them try.

Service is good even when busy.

There are a few tables on the street and a tiny courtyard, but you can go across the road to the reserve by the water and eat it there.

Highly recommended.

Approximate cost: $6
