Bangpop is fusion thai. The menu is very extensive. And in the location... it is one of the better dining places. The dining room is very big, with lots of space and high ceilings. It almost feels too lofty and less cosy. I guess there is a compromise.
I really enjoyed the food. We had Pad ka'nha moo krob (stir fried chinese broccoli dish with moreish crispy pork belly 'croutons' with oyster sauce, garlic and chilli ($18), Pad pak tofu - stir fried tofu w gai lan, baby corn, wood ear mushrooms, beanshoots and chilli ($20), Lanna beef curry w snake beans, kaffir lime, galangal and chilli ($24), Gaeng som pak - orange veg curry ($15). The mains were great. Very generous servings, abundant with herbs, big on texture and flavour.
The night finished with a Thai style tapioca ($11). An enormous bowl of pandan tapioca, with a scoop of mango sorbet, shavings of coconut and lemongrass syrup.
Definitely a go to restaurant if the location is not a bother.
