This is a great little spot in the valley serving all sorts of curries and stirfrys available in seafood, chicken, lamb and beef and with a specialty goat curry and many vegetarian options. The quality of the food is great with very large portion sizes (I had enough to take some home for lunch the next day). The restaurant is larger than you think and make sure to ask to sit out the back where they have traditional tables where you sit on cross-legged on cushions on elevated platforms. Sitting on floor definitely adds positively to the experience and makes it a little different.

Yummy yummy food, cosy atmosphere and very reasonable prices. Not pretentious. I've been a few times and will keep going back.

Quickly becoming a favourite dinner spot, especially if we can grab a table out the back (low tables that you sit at cross legged, but elevated off the floor). I've had both a beautiful curry and a somewhat ordinary curry here, so I think the food can be slightly hit and miss depending on what you're into. Many of the vegetarian options are a bit nicer than some of the meat ones. But the bread and dipping sauce is particularly yummy. Just resist the temptation to fill up on it, otherwise you won't be able to eat the rest of the delicious food put in front of you! I've walked out with a pleasantly full belly on several occasions.

Approximate cost: $15-20 for most mains

I can never go past the tofu curry at the Himalayan Cafe. I'm not vegetarian, but this is the most delicious, silky dish. Their flatbread is made on the premises and is served with dipping sauce. Book ahead as it's always busy. There are lovely secluded rooms out the back where you sit on cushions. Being BYO make it a tasty and cheap night out.

Great atmosphere, the little booths were great making you feel very comfortable and it was a great different feeling to you're regular restaurants. The food was fantastic, nice subtle spices and flavours, The himalayan cheese bread was beautiful. Great value for money also.

What i loved most about the Himalayan Cafe was the value for money. Two entrees, two mains, a dessert and drinks cost us about 60 dollars. And the quality of the food was wonderful. The ambiance of the restaurant was great and the set up looked quite authentic. The down side was that there was sometimes a long wait on food that was ordered, however this was a busy night.

Approximate cost: $10
