Hill Street Grocers is a great place to buy seasonal veggies they are fresh and their displays are very enticing. The have a great deli and are a great place to buy food. I do always buy more than I intend to when I go in especially fruit and veg that is exceptionally priced. They stock local foods and are an outlet for many specialty foods that are not readily available at the supermarkets. I love their Deli and the range of desserts they sell. This is my go to shop when visiting friends, or buying a salad for a BBQ. The normal range grocery items can be quite expensive much the same as any local corner store, but you can buy local milks and yogurts and even muesli (one of the things I always buy there) that you just can't get any where else. My price below is the current cost per kilo of pumpkins, other prices of course vary but they have some great specials.

Approximate cost: $1

I love Hill St because they generally sell local farm fresh produce.

Busy little grocer that generally stocks high quality fresh produce as well as a range grocery items, meat and pre-prepared foods.

I stopped in at the weekend looking for a specific type of cooking oil, and whilst it was not a product they stocked regularly, the young man that assisted me was able to tell me which of his competitors may be able to help with what I was looking for.

The shop is reasonably small for the volume of products and customers in there, and the car park, which is shared with the bottle shop next door, is a nightmare. It really is an accident waiting to happen.

I'm not sure who's brilliant idea it was to plonk two busy business down on the site of a single former service station, but it would seem adequate parking really wasn't considered.

If you're on foot I'd recommend this place, if you're driving, I'd recommend avoiding it.

I said in my review of the West Hobart store that I wished it were within walking distance......well, now it is! I was thrilled when they opened this store in 2011.
I often stop on the way home from work for the fresh salads and great range of fruit and vegies, far better than the big supermarkets. I now also walk here often to stock up.
They also have a good selection of loose dry goods, muesli etc, and a scrumptious looking patisserie bar, to add to the wonderful deli options of salads, quiches, pastas, moussaka and lots more.
The general grocery items are more expensive than the big supermarkets, but it's very convenient if you just want a few things. Also have their own butcher on site, which I like.
Staff are always friendly and helpful, and very gracious in the frantic lead up to Christmas! You only have to drive by on Christmas Eve to see how popular they are! They organised extra parking in the streets nearby this busy intersection during the few days prior to Christmas, which was really, really helpful.
