Peter Lutjen is an excellent dr!
Would recommend to anybody, down to earth but understanding at the same time. And usually always on time!

Definitely the doc to see for fertility issues!

I saw Peter for problems with conception. Wasnt very happy with the service and felt like he is in the hurry and has no time for me. He also wasnt interested in trying to understand the reason why we arent falling pregnant and wanted to do IVF without doing more tests. Also he had put me on medication and didn't worn me of possible side effects which were severe and quite scary. I wouldn't recommend him.

My husband and I had our very first appointment with Dr Peter Lutjen for our infertility. Our appointment was at 12pm and he actually called us in at 12pm! He was so lovely and very thorough. He made us feel very welcome and comfortable. I would recommend him to anyone!

Prof Peter Lutjen is excellent. He is a very straight forward man with a wealth of experience and knowledge. He is more than happy to answer as many questions as you have.
I have seen him for 2 babies. First was a straight forward pregnancy with a few birth complications which ended in a C-section. I never felt worried or scared during this process as I had full trust in Prof Lutjen.
My second pregnancy had a devastating end and Prof Lutjen was FABULOUS! His level of care and empathy was of the highest, which really helped us get through a very hard time. He made calls to our house to check on me and offers to see me in his rooms anytime I feel like a ‘chat'. His nurses and Reception Staff go the extra mile to support his patients - they are a wonderful, supportive team.
I am truly surprised that there are negative reviews for Prof Lutjen - I would never see anyone else and highly recommend him to all. He is a no fuss, calming guy with as much or as little time as you need. He runs to time and never missed any of my appts. The new Cradle Hawthorn is a state of the art facility which he was one of the pioneers. He has a true passion for improving obstetrics standards and level of care.
A++++++++++

Dissapointing to say the least...made wrong diagnosis...didn't understand that the female body is unique and ovulation days are not the same for everyone...for example you could ovulate on day 17 instead of day 14. This is critical to understand when trying to conceive. Gave the impression he knew it all and also didn't have time for you. Wasted time and money. will never go back. Didn't show much compassion for multiple pregnancy losses. Changed to a lady fertility specialist and had success in conception, diagnosed reason for losses and treated. Have 1 bub and now expecting the other.

I can't believe it but I have just found out I am pregnant!!!!!! I have been seeing Prof. Lutjen for IVF and am SOOOOO HAPPY - just have to share with everyone!!! Prof. Lutjen has been fantastic - so supportive to both myself and my partner - I think I may have been quite a high maintainance patient..... I am also over the moon that Prof Lutjen is associated with The Cradle at Healthbridge Private Hospital in Hawthorn this looks great - all absolutely brand new - with the latest in care and equipment - I can't wait to book in and know that both my baby and myself will be in the very best of hands throughout my delivery. PROF. LUTJEN IS THE BEST and I know that anyone who sees him either for gynaecology or infertility and obstetrics will be equally as happy with his care and professionalism as I am.

I have been to many Doctors over the years , but none match the quality of care and expertise that I experienced by Professor Peter Lutjen. His knowledge is second to none. His staff are friendly and caring. I have recommended him to many of my friends, and would recommend him to anyone in need of obstetrics or gynaecological care.

Dr Lutjen has little compassion and little bedside manner. It would be helpful if he had a little more bedside manner and some understanding of how difficult it is to be one of his patients, given the types of prognoses he is giving.
I would not recommend Dr Lutjen to anyone needing anything in the kindness and compassion area at a time when you really need it. He was described to me by my GP as cutting-edge with little bedside manner, luckily my GP has a lot of bedside manner which is helping to get us through this difficult time!

I have never found Dr Lutjen to have no time for me. He is always considerate and kind and very understanding of our circumstances. he really knows his stuff and is right up with all the latest treatments and medications. I am just so happy that he might be starting back to obstetrics early next year as I wouldn't dream of having anyone else look after me in my pregnancy or delivering my baby.

Wow .. I cant believe this is Peter Lutjen you saw. I have been his patient for in excess of 10 years and he is wonderful. In that time, I have lived in several different areas and still always would rather make the treck to his rooms than go anywhere else. I cannot imagine how you found him to be lacking in compassion.

I take offense to Adi's review in answer in saying a doctor is not there to hold your hand. A doctor has taken a hippocratic oath and his duty is to care for his patient 100% and this includes showing empathatic care. Human beings are not numbers, we have feelings and a voice that should be listened to so a doctor should be sensitive especially when dealing with women with difficult fertility issues who do need to be treated with compassion and respect (if you listen to them and give them some time that would be very nice). His knowledge in my experience was less than desirable and his attitude was more of indifference rather than interest. So a 1 rating from myself for now. That's a fair and honest opinion.

Ultra-professional, extremely fast-thinker, intelligent and knowledgeable, caring (will be so with reassuring statistics and recounts of experience not empty words, compliments, false hopes and fake smiles), slick and clever presentation of the facts and the ultra-rationalist....you get what you see....well, with supporting evidence.
When I came to see him for a second opinion, I was impressed by the loyalty of his staff seeing him as one of the best and even before I had my first appointment he answered a question that one of his personal assistants could not answer about Monash IVF's current treatments, whilst seeing another client out. He seemed the kind of person who does not leave a stone unturned to get the job done, as well as to be on-the-ball, well informed and focused.
One of his personal assistants, was also helpful in avoiding time-wasting by suggesting getting all newly legislated paperwork out of the way before the first appointment, which I really appreciated, as well as her caring nature to allow me not to waste another cycle before starting treatment.
Peter Lutjen's presentation about treatment options once I had my appointment was certainly very quickly delivered but he didn't mind answering my many questions always supported by statistics or examples from his experience and some of what he said seemed to fit with the latest readings I did from the online Oxford Journals and IVF.net or leading IVF clinics around the world which made him trustworthy to me. Of course his resume is impressive, especially when you consider he worked with both Carl Wood and Alan Trounsen...the biggest names in respectively the Aussie IVF history and Stem Cell Research.
He seems to surround himself with the best staff, never likes to waste time and always focuses on the essential. The second time I saw him was to be given a short intro to the treatment before the medications were given by his nurse. The third time was before egg pick-up, the fourth time for the embryo transfer.
Yes, it was all VERY fast and once you overcome your own shock at that speedy process you really appreciate it too, considering the years wasted at battling fertility issues.
I was very happy and grateful that he was rostered on the days I went to Monash IVF for treatment making the IVF process not as impersonal and scary as I expected-
I can only recommend Peter Lutjen to you.
