So far my experience with Dr McCully has been very very positive. He has been most supportive, caring and certainly a great first time experience for my husband and I. His bedside manners are flawless and he never fails to make my husband and I feel comforatble and at ease at all times, even if we have concerns, etc.

Last year I had a mischarriage and by that time we had chosen to see Dr McCully. It was a really really tough time for my husband and I as one can imagine, but Dr McCully took the time to talk to us and made sure we walked out of his practice with some knowledge of what to expect over the next few weeks / months. He was brilliant. Although it goes without saying, both my husband and I went home with a heavy heart, after talking to Dr Mc Cully, at the back of our heads, we had hope, and all thanks to Dr McCully's wonderful support.

We are now expecting yet again, and have definetly gone back to see Dr McCully. His staff, midwives, they are all brilliant. They always know exactly what to say when you are in need, and should you call and have concerns tec, either Dr McCully's staff or himself will ring to follow up to see how you're doing.

Immaculate service, so knowledgable, very caring, supportive and positive, hinest and certainly sets a really high standard in their everyday practice.

I wouldn't go anywhere else, Brian is awesome, and all of his staff are just as awesome.
In my antenatal class 9 out of the 10 couples were going through Brian.
that's not bad odds!

Dr Brian is so reassuring and no question is a silly question. His staff are all very supportive. They are great when all is going well and also when I lost my twins, thank God for Brian.
I am currently expecting my second child and I have age concerns and some damage from my previous child so Brian has suggested a C Section. I have taken some time to get me head around that but with talks with Brian and the Midwives I am comfortable and trust Dr Brian 100%.
Any expecting mother has to have a good relationship with their obstetrician and you need to be able to trust that they are looking out the the health and wellbeing of your unborn child and you. With Brian there is no question. He is fantastic and so are his staff.
I have no problem starting my appointments with the midwives as Dr Brian comes in later during the appointment.
If you really have any concerns with wanting to see Dr Brian every appointment then you should just ask that he is present at the appointment.

Approximate cost: $3,000

I am currently going through Brian for my second pregnancy and owe the life of my daughter to him as our delivery with her ended up being quite complicated. I trust Brian completely and find that no question is any trouble for him. He's just lovely.

Our daughter was born by C section on Brian's advise. My partner and I are both older parents and we were very nervous as the day approached. Brian took time to reassure my partner and pushed other appointments back to make sure she understood why he had recommended a C section and to reassure her and to allow her time to decide.

At no time did I feel that he was being pushy and we both felt that we had made the right decision.

During the birth an unexpected complication was discovered. If Dr. McCully didnt spend the time with us discussing the birth and the risks we would most likely have gone for a natural birth and due to the complication this would have resulted in an emergency C section.

His calm and reassuring presence made what could easily have been a terrifying moment seam common place and we are all truly thankful for his care.

Brian McCully made me feel at ease as soon as we walked in. He is very supportive and is keen to make the whole pregnancy and birth experience a positive one. He isn't present at the start of every appointment but joins the midwife half way through so you can ask him any questions you might have. He really is like an old friend from the moment you meet him.

I was very happy with me experience with Dr Mc Cully but also knew what to expect with him not being at all my appointments.

I found the time he really shone through was with a couple of complications I had during and after my pregnancy he was very caring and re-assuring. I will definitely be back when I have more kids

Just wanted to edit that I have just had my 2nd child and once again the lovely Brian was there, I actually ended up having a tougher time this pregnancy and he shone through once again

After recently having Brian deliver my third baby, I am able to compare his services to the other Obstetricians I had for my other two pregancies. There is no doubt that he is a very caring obstetrician, certainly the best in terms of bed side manner I have encountered. Unfortunately though, I found the service offered by his practice disappointing. My experience found that Brian didn't attend all the appointments he had booked with me. He was at the initial appointment around 10 weeks then I didn't see him again until around 28 weeks. All the appointments in between were attended to by the group of midwives he has working for him. All very competent, lovely women who were able to answer my questions and concerns.
I wasn't informed that this was how he ran his practice when I enquired about seeing him for this pregnancy. It wasn't until the 20 week mark when I had to pay the out of pocket expenses for the up and coming delivery that his office manager informed me of how the business was run. That Brian gets his midwives to see his patients when he is unable to attend or has another appointment booked, then looks over the notes from these missed appointments at the end of the day.
As mentioned, his team of midwives are fantastic and a great support, but for $75 per appointment, whether you see Brain or a midwife, there really isn't a lot of difference between this service and going to through the public system where most of the appointments are with midwives, and for free. That said though, if you want Brain to attend the birth, you a pretty much guaranteed that he will, and he is a fantastic support during that time.
He does seem to have the monopoly at the moment in Geelong, I noticed in the weekends paper that his name was most prevelant in the birth notices, he must be delivering a majority of the babies born at Saint John of God. And with the way his business is set up, he can afford to take on many more clients than other Obstetricians, because he has a team of midwives that are able to see his clients for him when he cannot. So if you are happy with this arrangement then he is worth seeing, but if you want more for your money, perhaps shop around for another Obstetrician who has the time to spend with you for the whole of the pregnancy.

From my experience they have changed the way they approach the midwife attendance issue.
We spoke with the office manager at the 10 week appointment and Brian also told us the midwives would start the following appts. So, he has always appeared at our appointments - just later.

My appointments are started with a Midwife and Brian alway comes in later. The only time that he hasn't been to one of my apts is when he is delivery someone else's baby. If you ask, Brian will attend every apt that he is available.

I recently just had my first child & Dr. Brian McCully was the most loving & supportive man i have ever met. Whatever questions or decisions had to be made he was right there behind us 100% Couldn't recommend a Dr. more highly.

Just recently had my 2nd child and Dr. Brian Mc Cully was absolutely wonderful. Very caring and professional and willing to assist you personally in having the birth you want to have. My partner also felt more relaxed knowing Brian was in charge of my and our little ones care

His support staff were also exceptional and very organised. There wasn't anything they wouldn't do for you.
