This is a nice German Bakery like you would expect to see in Harndorth. Situated on the main st of the township, with easy parking immediately around the corner if you need it.

The staff are really nice there - they give us a hearty welcome each time we go there. We like their Pasties - they have a little old-fashioned pepper in them. Sometimes we by a second one to take with us. Their Potato Pies are made to Perfection in appearance and taste! And their Vanilla Slices are tasty - we have half each after our Pie or Pasty.

Yes, you can dine-in there and they serve your sauce in a separate little dish and generously too. They also serve a few different meals their including a big breakfast that looks interesting. Their doors are open at 7am in the morning and close at 3pm. Not sure if that is a custom in Germany. This is 7 days a week!

Now closed after Pandemic. I leave this review to express our gratitude for times we enjoyed there.

Easily one of the WORST dining experiences I have ever had. My mom was actually threatened with the police when we complained about the incredibly poor food and service!

I had to ask for a cloth to clean my table when we sat down (maybe they were short staffed, so I didn’t think much of it), when we placed our order the waitress didn’t seem to know much about the menu or food (maybe she was new, so I didn’t think much of it), then we received a ‘thick shake’ which was definitely not thick, received a lentil soup which turned out to be minestrone and received a coffee with an unwashed saucer (maybe they were busy...), but when I went to speak to the waitress who then called the older lady behind the counter who I assumed was the owner all hell broke loose!

I was shouted at and told that she took offence to the fact that the soup was not what the menu said it was and was told in a very snotty attitude that she would speak to the staff about the thick shake to which I replied that I didn’t think she actually was going to (because of her attitude towards me), it got even worse from there and she walked away from me so I spoke to another waitress who told me five of her staff didn’t show on the day (even though I counted six staff), and also in an extremely patronising way told me she was ‘sorry’ that I had to ask to get my table cleaned, she literally said it in a way that said ‘oh poor you for having to ask’. I asked for a refund and was flat out denied and given no apology from anyone.

It was SUCH a bad experience that I ended up crying outside and we left $60 worth of food and drinks, having barely touched it. On our way our my mom went in to chat to the older woman as my parents have owned a restaurant for the last 16 years and wanted to find some common ground with her and that was when this woman said that she would call the police! We should have read other comments about this place before having gone as if we had done so we would not have gone there.

I have NEVER seen such poor customer service in my life before and for someone to act the way that this woman acted I can’t see how they remain in business, fortunately for us we come from Sydney and will NEVER go there again, nor will be recommend people to go there. If I could give zero stars I would have!

Fantastic value for their wares.
I had the traditional German roll. Plenty of saukeraut
And we tried their wrap. Kinda like a yiros...
Overall, very good and I would come again.
They have various smallgoods as well for sale at the counter.

The kransky here was amazing my partner is a lover of all german fare and he was a devotee after one visit. They also have some nice cured meat in the back of the shop you can take home with you.

Whilst my mum was living in Tanunda, we ate here regularly. The owners became friends with my Mum, and they did my engagement party catering. (they were amazing!) They are best know for their traditional German fare - kranksy's and the like - but are an amazing bakery and a great place for brekkie as well. Well worth a visit when passing through.
