This is my third review of this butcher today as I am very upset! My father and I purchased this afternoon a whole Angus Tasmanian grass fed scotch fillet in a sealed pack, which the butcher said weighed just over 2 kg. The price listed in the display cabinet is $54.99 per Kg. We asked the butcher to slice the scotch fillet. I was charged $134.60. I just live up the road so when at home I immediately weighed the cut up scotch fillet steaks and it was 2.21 kg just as he had said when he weighed it before opening the sealed pack. The cost should have been $121.53. My father and I immediately went back to the butcher to query the massive price difference and we were told that when the vacuum pack was opened a lot of fluid had run out from the vacuum pack plastic hence the $13.00 difference!!! I told him I have never in my life experienced this! $13.00 worth of liquid in the vacuum pack. He told us it was just over 2 kg when he weighed it before opening the pack so no liquid had come out at all after opening it.
I will take this up with consumer affairs. Very dishonest butcher and business. I now can't even trust that the beef he labelled as grass fed Tasmanian angus beef is true. My mother had had bad experience with this butcher a few years ago but I insisted to give it try today as it is local, but never again. I've now also told my local friends about my terrible experience. It is very unfair to charge $13 to slice up some meat. The butcher should have told us about this additional cost beforehand.

When I went there this morning the butcher gave me 4 pieces of Rump Steak for $10, which is an excellent bargain so I would recommend going there because they are always very helpful.

The BEST place to get the BEST sausage meat for homemade sausage rolls. The Angus sausage meat is absolutely beautiful and perfect for sausage rolls.

Whilst trying to support local business I end up with horrible meat and refused replacement and refund. I was given the complete run around saying it was up to his 'boss' who I don't believe even exists because he would never speak to me or meet with me. I tried to support this business and because I said I was not happy with the meat, I was treated with complete disdain and disrespect. Tried to blame me for the meat poor quality when my family has used the same Beef Cheek recipe for decades without issue. So much for supporting local business. I tell everyone I know about my experience with this business. So many other lovely butchers around with much better quality meat. For goodness sake, ever supermarkets offer a happy or replacement guarantee...so if a butcher really believes he sells such top quality meat and wants repeat business, wouldn't you think he would be happy to replace the meat at least????

It's nice to find a butcher who is not only knowledgable about all his products, but who makes an effort to stock the very best quality as well. Dean's provides the best fresh chickens I've found in the Ringwood area (Glenloth free range corn-fed) and also great turkeys to order. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Prices very competitive (usually much better value than the supermarket for equivalent quality). Highly recommended.
