Dr. Boon Kua is a highly experienced and certified Da Vinci robotic and laparoscopic (keyhole) surgeon at the Wesley hospital. To date, he has successfully performed and proctored over 1500 cases of robotic and laparoscopic prostate and kidney surgeries. He is the co-chair of the RoboticSurgery Advisory Group at the Wesley hospital and helped the Wesley hospital achieveits recognition as the first Centre of Excellence in Robotic Surgery (COERS) inAustralia. This prestigious recognition was formally awarded by the International bodies of Clinical Robotic SurgeryAssociation (CRSA) and Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) in 2017. With increasing use of the MRI scan in the diagnosis of prostate cancer, Dr Kua also set up the first and only Nanoknife treatment centre (for focal treatment of prostate cancer) in Queensland at the Wesley Hospital in 2018. For over a decade Dr Kua has implanted hundreds of penile prostheses/implants in men with erectile dysfunction thus improving their quality of life. Diagnosed with Prostate cancer I found Dr. Boon Kua to be an extremely skilled surgeon who handled my case with the most superior professionalism. The result is that I am now cancer free and looking forward to continuing a normal life. I recovered from the Robotic surgery in a few short weeks not the anticipated 8 weeks. However I hedded all advise given and took it very easy for 7 weeks. I was walking 7 klm each day 5 days after having caffetter removed. I ceased taking pain killers 8 days after the operation. I put my speedy recovery down to the skills of Dr. Boon Kua and the Da Vinci Robot.
